PRIMA PIZZELLE BAKER A great kitchen appliance
May 07 '00
The first time I had these great waffle like crisp cookies was at a pot luck lunch, I could`nt get enough of that great taste, which I later found out was ANISE the only place I can find it is at the Drug store. They are made in an appliance that is a little like a waffle iron. they come in different sizes single and double, also electric or stove top styles. We had to search around a bit to find one found it at a Scandia Design Store. My Husband got it for me for a Christmas gift.
The pizzelle baker comes with these features.Mine is # 5000-ns
Steam guard--protects you from hot steam during baking.
Heat control thermostat -- maintains perfect baking temperature.
Bright indicator light--lets you know when to begin baking.
Professional duty construction--assures you of a lasting baker.
Extra thin Pizzelles--thinner than any other.
stay cool handles--designed for your comfort.
Comes with an instruction booklet and a few recipes.
Has a full two year warranty.
Is made at Villa Ware manufacturing company in Cleveland Ohio.
Easy to keep clean and shiny. Just wipe with a damp cloth.
To use just plug it into outlet. The indicator light will begin to glow, in about 8 minutes the light will go off and baker is ready to use. At this point you will see the light going on and off. This tells you the baker is maintaining the proper baking temperature.
It is not necessary to season the grids since the pizzelle recipe you are using will have enough shortening in it for proper seasoning.
Pick up one heaping teaspoon of batter and place in center of each grid pattern. With some experimentation, you will learn that by placing the batter slightly behind center (that is, away from you) you can produce full size pizzelles. You may also prefer to use about 1/2 as much batter to produce smaller pizzelles with a snow flake border.
Close the baker and clamp the handles together with the handle clamp. Baking will take approximately 30 seconds.
Remove pizzelles from the grid with a spatula. I use cookie sheets to lay them flat to cool. As they cool I stack them. When completely cool I store in coffee cans. They also freeze great in coffee cans. Keep for months in the freezer.
When finished unplug from outlet, leave baker open to cool. Then brush crumbs from the groves and wipe off grids with a damp paper towel to absorb any excess shortening.
Now since I told you about that great flavor pizzelle with ANISE flavor I will include that great recipe I got from the person at the pot luck where I first had my first pizzelle.
I would also like to mention that at the Holidays here the Hair Dressers Mother makes and sells pizzelles for $5.00 a dozen, theres an way to make a little extra money if like baking.
PIZELLES WITH ANISE
1 teaspoon Anise oil
1 teaspoon salt 1 dozen eggs (beaten in large bowl)
3 1/2 cups sugar
2 2/3 cups margarine (melted)
3 tablespoons baking powder
10 cups flour
Mix all ingredients together. And place 1 large teaspoon on each grid.
Close and clamp bake approximately 30 seconds. Take out and cool as I explained above.
