~*~Butter Cookies~*~

Jun 30 '00

This recipe comes from my Mother-in-law. I think everyone in the family uses it at Christmas time for Cut out Butter cookies.

Preheat oven to 425*

Ingredients

1 Cup Butter

1/2 Cup Sugar

1 Egg

3 tsp vanilla

3 Cups Flour

1/2 tsp Baking Powder

Here is what you do....

In a Medium sized bowl, Mix together the Butter, sugar and egg until creamy. Stir in Vanilla.

In a large bowl, sift together the flour and baking powder. Fold in the mixture in the medium sized bowl, until mixture is smooth. Roll the dough out on a floured cutting board. Use cookie cutters to cut the shapes out, and place about an inch apart on a cookie sheet.

Bake at 425* for 5-7 minutes, or until edges start to turn light brown. Take out of the oven and cool on a wire rack.

I buy a jar of white frosting, pour 1/4 of the frosting into 4 small bowls, add food coloring, and let the kids decorate the tops. This is a favorite at Christmas time for the Christmas baskets I make for family and friends full of goodies.

Happy Baking!!!
