Toastronic Double Wide Slot is Great!

Written: Dec 22 '99
Pros:settings for frozen foods, reheat mode, doesn't burn
Cons:may be discontinued and difficult to find

Don't you just hate the way most toasters do up frozen waffles? If you let them cook until the outside is just perfect, the inside is always cold... and if you let them go long enough to heat up all the way through, the outside gets burned. Well, since I bought my Krups Toastronic, I've had nothing but perfect waffles. This toaster has a frozen food setting.. you drop the waffles, push the frozen's button, and a few minutes later, up pops waffles that are crisp and golden brown on the outside, and cooked all the way through!
This model has quartz heating elements, and two very long wide slots - will handle up to 3 bagels at once! The outside stays cool to the touch. The other feature, the reheat, I've not been terribly impressed with ... it's supposed to reheat toast (and ostensibly waffles) without drying them out. I've not tried to reheat toast, but it doesn't do a very good job of reheating waffles... but I really don't care, because it does the absolute best job of heating them up the first time! Makes great toast and bagels too. If you can find one of these, buy it! The retail price is around $70, but I found mine online for $20 - some online stores may still have some in stock.
