And here is Tim, the Tool Man, Taylor!!!Apr 04 '00 Write an essay on this topic.Ok, I've never burnt down my house, or souped up my power drill to make it run 2000 rpm, but I do know a little about safety when it comes to power tools. Here is a checklist you should go through to make sure you are being as careful as possible so you don't cut off a finger or put an eye out. 1. Always wear safety goggles. OK, I don't always do this, but it is the best advice I can give. It's much easier to live minus one finger than minus one eye. Your eyes are too important to be careless with. 2. Give yourself plenty of space. Make sure you aren't in a tight space trying to use a power tool. This could be very dangerous. 3. Wear gloves when using power tools that are bulky. If you are using a tool that doesn't need a fingertip touch, be sure and use gloves. Gloves can protect you from many things such as cuts from wood chips and blisters. 4. Work slowly. Don't get in a big rush when you are using power tools. This is the best way to make a trip to the emergency room. Also, if you take your time, the job will be much neater and you will be much happier with it. 5. Last but not least, keep your kids out of your work area. Most kids are strong enough to start a power tool, even when they are young enough not to know what it does. The last thing you want to do is take your son or daughter to the emergency room because of a careless act on your part. |
