When looking for a web hosting company, there are many options. The main thins I was looking for were:
1) Low price
2) 10 megs or more of space
3) Unlimited transfer bandwidth
Dreamhost suited me in all of these aspects. I did my research and decided to go with them.
Dreamhost is a excellent company to deal with. I pay $9.95 a month for 10 megs of space. You can get 30megs if you pay a year in advance. I've been with them going on a year now and I can only remember one occasion when they were down and that was fixed within an hour. My plan has an easy to set up mailing list as well as unlimited bandwidth. My site always load very quickly even when I'm on a slower connection, there is hardly ever much of a wait to load anything hosted on Dreamhost.
They also registered my domian name. All I had to do was pay for it. They now offer an easier and cheaper way to register a domain but I have not used that service.
My account also has the capability to forward an unlimited(?) number of email alieses from your domain name. For example you could have spam@yourdomain.com sent to be deleted and home@yourdomain.com and webmaster@yourdomain.com forwarded to whatever email address you want. I really like this feature because I don't have to check different accounts, I can have some or all of the email sent to my domain sent to my one email account. Having multiple email accounts with mydomain.com on them helps me track what kind of emails I am getting.
Setup of my account was extremely quick. Withing 24 hours I was up and running with no problems whatsoever. The tech support answered my questions within a day and any problems were resolved that quickly as well.
This company at least gives the impression that they are having fun. Taking a look at their site makes you think that this is a group of people that enjoy their work and that makes me feel better about hosting with them. They also have monthly giveaways and a refferal program that can get you credit which makes your web hosting even cheaper.
