Me too (Reply to this comment)

I teach and learn this way too. I remind my students that I'm working on the 65-page Grieg Piano Concerto. I'm certainly not going to play the whole thing through each time I sit down to play it. I learn about one page at a time, one measure at a time. You've got to find the trouble spot(s), focus on those until you find pleasure in the fact that you've mastered them, and then go on.
I don't think one can possibly describe the incredible feeling of accomplishment you get when you master a trouble spot, do you?
Nice review!

I used to get so frustrated when I couldn't get it down! That's why I gave up piano!
I tried to play a Johann Sebastian Bach piece and I totally butchered it. No matter how much I stayed on the keyboard, it just wouldn't work.
From then on, I was a devout percussionist!
