Are you serious? Am I serious? You'd better know what you want before you start jamming

I've been in a few bands, before I realized with great regret that I didn't have what it took to make it as a rocker. Yes, I still maintain my love for the drums and everything about them, but I didn't have the memory capacity to thrive in a musical kingdom.
I think that's the first thing you have to realize about starting a band. Musicians have to have a strong work ethic in order to achieve success. In order to simplify your musical journey, you'll want to find others with the same goals in mind as you do. You'll want similar tastes, but I also think you need to have a strong desire to explore your creative side. Perhaps you're a rapper or you're a boy band, this is another thing you've got to remember, what's in and out while you're seeking your fame. If you're into rap or you're in a boy band, you've got to realize that these particular genres are a dime a dozen. So establishing your own sound is unbelievably important.
If you're a stand up artist thriving all the attention, you'd better think twice about trying to make it big. In almost every instance, people like this will destroy the unity of a band, just look at Van Halen with David Lee Roth for a good example. Unity is what you want.
The next thing you need is a strong musical understanding and various musical interests. As a musician, when you become a recording artist you join an elite brother and sisterhood. Whether you're in a symphony or you're a rapper, you're still all musicians and should respect each other accordingly.
Rounding this out, I'm going to highlight the important items I previously mentioned and hope you the best of luck. Talent, strong work ethics, unity, creativity, and vast musical interests will only serve you better in the long run. Once again, I hope this helps with the beginning of your journey. Thanks for reading.
