Here I sit an hour before the final episode of 90210 airs. I can't believe it. This show came out the year I started college. We didn't even have FOX in my hometown that year. That seems so long ago.
When this show first came out I admit that I found it rather laughable. I was quite cynical about the high school years and this show did not potray them in any realistic believable way to me at that time. As I matured I became more interested. The past few years of the show have been wonderful. I have enjoyed the storylines and many times they have left me eager to tune in the next week.
This show has tackled most every issue imaginable in its ten years. I have agreed sometimes other times I have thought to myself "how could they be so irresponsible as to condone/glamorize this". The one that really got me going was the Senior prom show. The students were told that drinking would not be tolerated and what the consequences would be. It turned out that golden girl Donna Martin was the one to violate this rule. The students all protested her expulsion. I didn't agree with this protrayal - Young People need to understand that if a rule is broken in the High School environment it will be dealt with. On the good side I have seen them tackle the issue of finding yourself. The young adults on the show have all looked for their career path, what they want from life, new parenthood, financial woes, etc. It is nice to see that the beautiful people struggle with these issues also.
My wishes for the show that starts in 45 minutes- a beautiful Donna & David wedding, Kelly to not end up with Matt, Noah to find true happiness and most of all NO CHEESY SPIN-OFFS LIKE "DAVID LOVES DONNA."
