My daughters are on the brink of going to junior high. I know, I am in for some real head aches! It is a parents job to educate their children on all sorts of issues. Drugs, pregnancy, AIDS. It is my duty as a parent to discuss these issues with my children and answer any questions they may have. Any parent who avoids issues such as these, are doing their child a great dis-service. I, like alot of kids had to learn everything from other teenagers(who usually didn't know what they were talking about) and usually ended up in trouble because of it. My parents were the Ozzie and Harriett type, sex was never discussed in our house. Facts definitely show that teenagers that have families where sex is openly discussed have a lower chance of becoming teenage parents. I mean, if you aren't taught about birth control or abstinence, obviously you might end up pregnant. Everyone has their own religious beliefs and family values, but it is your responsibility as a parent to let your child know what's out there, educate them, and ultimately let them make thier own choice.
