Attention! Who's In That StrollerAug 09 '00 Write an essay on this topic.Yesterday my family visited teh local amusement park. It is an annual event. My husband's company has their picnic there. We meet another family there and spend the entire day together. The family just had a new baby. Their third child. We were all visiting the waterpark. The older children were all off riding slides and playing. The mother left her husband in charge of the baby. Low and behold, here came a few men he knew from work. From a distance, I saw him chatting with these men. I figured, ok, I will take the baby. I walked over, removed the baby from the stroller and went to a nearby rock to sit and play with him. As I sat there, I realized the father never agnolized that I was there. Hmmm. Did he even know I took him? After 5 minutes of playing with the baby, the mother came over. I told her about taking the baby and the father not knowing. She marched over and looked in the stroller and said "DAD" where's the baby. The look on his face was startle. She did not let him worry. She immediately pointed to us. We had a little chuckle over his reaction, but I think he learned his lesson. In all seriousness, people do not realize how easy it could be to kidnap a child. MAybe the father blocked me out because I was a friend. MAybe not. He is a great Dad and very good with his children. I think that people sometimes people get a false sense of security when their child is buckled safely away. In a matter of seconds, I removed 2 buckles and took the baby away. I could have been very far away by the time he was noticed missing. I could have been on my way home by the time security was alerted. What a mean thing for me to do right! I know I felt bad after the incident. I did not mean to scare him, but when I realized that he never missed the baby, I had to teach him a lesson. ALWAYS keep 1 eye on your stroller and you can use the other for whatever you like. There are a lot of sick people out there who would love to take a beautiful baby! NEVER leave your stroller unwatched let alone unattended!!! |
