I was hesitant about using an oil on my daughter's sensitive skin, despite the fact that I trusted the Johnson & Johnson line of baby care products. When the harsh winter winds began chapping her skin, I tried several lotions, but her cheeks, forehead and nose were still dry and red. Skeptical, I purchased a bottle of the Johnson's Baby Oil Gel With Chamomile & Multi-Vitamin Complex. What the lotions couldn't do, this gel did!
The Math
I purchased a 6.5 OZ (182g) bottle of this gel for $2.69 at my local Wal-Mart. This is a little bit more expensive than the regular Johnson's Baby Oil but well worth the few extra pennies.
A Baby Oil GEL?
At first I wasn't so sure about using the gel formula of this oil, so I tested it out on myself at the store. Compared to the regular Johnson's Baby Oil, the gel isn't nearly as messy, absorbs into the skin faster, and moisturizes better. The gel is in a concentrated form, which is supposed to provide extra moisturization. Another plus that I noticed is that the gel seemed to be longer lasting than the regular oil.
Chamo-WHAT?
This wonderful gel contains Chamomile as well as a Multi-Vitamin (A & D)Complex. This unique combination of ingredients helps to nourish and soften even the most dry skin. Chamomile, a low growing herb, is very versatile and can be used for its calming affects as well as it's ability to help soothe and heal chapped and dry skin.
Other Ingredients
Mineral Oil, Hydrogenated Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Hydrogenated Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene, Fragrance, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Corn (Zea Mays)Oil, Cholecaliferol.
Fragrance & More
*The Johnson's Baby Oil Gel has a wonderful subtle scent that isn't powdery or overwhelming. Once applied to the skin the scent tends to linger for quite a while.
*This baby oil gel is best when applied to dampened skin. After you bathe your baby, simply pat baby with a towel to remove any excess moisture, and gently apply the gel. This gel is gentle enough to be used every day to help prevent further chafing.
*This gel comes in a durable clear plastic bottle with a yellow flip top cap. The cap snaps tightly to prevent leaking. Be warned though that because the bottle stands cap down, when the cap is opened the gel will sometimes pour out too quickly causing a bit of a mess.
Overall Opinion
I would highly recommend the Johnson's Baby Oil Gel With Chamomile & Multi-Vitamin Complex. This is a wonderful way to help heal and prevent chafed skin. This gel, with its pleasing fragrance and skin healing complex, absorbs quickly and nourishes better than most baby lotions on the market.
