| suz22's Full Review: Evenflo On My Way Travel System |
Being a neurotic first time mom, I read everything I could find on infant car seat safety. We were leaning towards the Evenflo On My Way Travel System, and what clinched it for us was looking up the most recent Consumer Reports Crash Test (it was one of the top 2).
We bought a Travel System so that we wouldn't have to worry about waking the baby when getting in and out of the car. This seat is really easy to get in and out of the car, onto the stroller, and to lock onto the basket of shopping carts. The curved handle made it comfortable to carry (as comfortable as something with a heavy baby can be). My son fell asleep almost every time he was in the carseat.
The stroller is very nice. When the car seat canopy and the stroller canopy are open the baby is almost entirely protected. Ours has a piece on the handle for a drink for Mom or Dad and a tray (to hold all of those things the baby keeps throwing on the floor). Once our son was big enough to ride in the stroller w/o the carseat, there is a tray for him that snaps on with the same benefits. The basket underneath is very large. It is quite substantial, heavy and smooth riding, and unfortunately a bit bulky. It is great for me as I live in a small city where I don't need to ride public transportation, but if I would have still been living in Boston and trying to get this thing on the subway or on a bus it would have been difficult.
Overall I am very pleased with this product. The car seat cover has shown a bit more wear than I would have expected (material thinning on the edges), but it has been easy to use and has a very high consumer reports rating. Also important, my son never complained about being in it, and he has even started climbing into the stroller to just sit in it when in the house. Unfortunately, that involves some interesting climbing techniques, but at least he will ride in it!
