Great Wedding Gift Idea !Sep 16 '00 Write an essay on this topic. As I listed in my personal profile, I love to keep my self-busy making crafts. I love when I’m invited to a wedding. I have a crafty idea for making a beautiful wedding gift with the invitation. It makes the gift personal and the newly married couple will keep it for a memento for their children to come. Framed Wedding Invitation Materials: Wedding Invitation 8x10 Shadow Box Frame at least 1” thick. (Wood or Metal) Use your preference in style. Picture Frame Matting 1/2 yard Lace (Ivory of White) Color of the Bride’s dress. 2 yards of Ruffle lace (Ivory or White) for trim Silk flowers (Small) Roses, etc. 2 yards Ribbon Hot glue gun Glue sticks, (soft) *Make sure back of picture frame is NOT the type that slides into the frame. *Matting, silk flowers and ribbon (should be the colors in the wedding) Many invitations are so beautiful, you say how can I cut this up. Yes I know it’s hard. Take the invitation, cut out the script not too close to the wording. Oh and before you do this next step, make sure your able to get a hold of another invitation in case you mess up... Just kidding.. With script of invitation in hand, burn the edges, do a small section at a time, or your invitation might go up in flames, talking from experience here. Burning the edges gives this gift an antique look. After that step is done, set invitation aside. Take the back of your picture frame and trace onto the matting. Cut along traced line. Matting and back of picture frame need to be same size. Cut lace a little larger then matting, making sure you are able to wrap around. Wrap lace over and around the matting. Glue the edges of the lace on the back of the matting to secure. * This is the background for your invitation arrangement. Take the invitation arrange and glue to center of background. *Use small drops of glue, do not over glue, it will show through paper. Now for the fun part, this is where your creativity will blossom. Starting in the top left corner, create a small floral arrangement, starting in the middle of corner, working flowers down along the edges. eg. Use the larger flowers in the center, working the smaller ones down the edges, giving it crawling vine look. Do the same in the right bottom corner, working the flowers upward along the edges, but make a smaller arrangement, so the floral arrangement frames the invitation. Accent floral arrangement with little of the ribbon. Glue background to the Shadow Box Frame, making sure your arrangement inside is neat Glue the lace ruffle to back of background matting. Starting in the center top of arrangement. Glue the back of frame to background. Now the finishing touches... Create a small floral arrangement and glue to center top of Shadow Box Frame, accent it with ribbons, draping down the sides of the Shadow Box Frame. *Option, if your Frame did not come with a hanging hook or table mount. You can glue ribbon to the back of frame for hanging. The cost of this crafty gift will run you about $15.00 to $20.00 for materials, depending on the Frame, I have found that K MART carries a nice Shadow Box Frame for this project. I have made many special orders on this Shadow Box Frame, for family and friends and sold them for $30.00, and given this gift, myself, to many newly married couples, which really appreciated such a personal and beautiful gift. You can use this project on baby announcements, golden anniversary, etc. Have fun! |
