Only cloth for his bum! =)

Apr 05 '00

To be honest, I had never even considered cloth diapers for our family, who wants to add extra loads of laundry, and mess with leaky prefolds? I had no idea what type of products were out in cyber land, and that cloth diapers have come a LONG way from the misconceptioned idea's most people have about them. My son was 3 months old, getting by in his Huggies or Pampers, and waking to a soaked crib every lovely morning. Not to mention my pocketbook was taking a toll, considering my daughter was still in diapers at that time as well. But as many uniformed, uneducated parents out there, I didn't know I had any options, so I changed sheets every morning with a grain of salt, and foolishly forked out more and more money for products that were just thrown away.

At this time, a good friend of mine, who I happened to become aquatinted with online, casually mentioned that she cloth diapered her daughter, whom happens to be one week younger than my year old son. At first I didn't even think about it, but one day after spending $25.00 for two packs of diapers for both the kids, I came home, hopped online, and asked her a ton of questions. She made me a little starter package, stuff she had that she didn't use anymore, so I could see what they were all about.

Once I received them, I never turned back. I did hours of research online, searching every brand of diaper out there, read reviews, asked other mom's opinions, and ordered away! I have been cloth diapering 9 months now, and you couldn't pay me to switch back to disposibles!

The few extra loads of laundry have never been an issue for me, I actually like to wash and fold my clean diapers! =) There is really nothing to washing them, I just do a cold soak, cold wash, hot wash, then an extra rinse. Then toss into the dryer, that's it!

With all that's out there these day's, cloth diapering is just as easy and convenient as disposables. You have AIO's (all-in-one's) which are fitted diapers that do not require a cover, and take the same amount of time to put on as a disposable! Fitted's with Velcro closure's or snaps, or you can go with prefold's and pin them or put them in wraps. You really have so much to choose from, and they are so cute! They really do become addicting. I just love knowing I'm putting chemical free, real COTTON on my babies bum, which has got to be 110% more comfortable, wouldn't you agree?
