Morning Sickness? Try eternal sickness!!!
Aug 02 '00
I'm now on my third pregnancy. Let me just say up front that I had no respect for morning sickness until now! The first two pregnancies were so easy and so enjoyable, that I never gave morning sickness a thought. UNTIL....
Pregnancy #3 - after two great pregnancies, I had assumed I was just above getting morning sickness. I breezed through the first twelve weeks the same as the first two pregnancies, but then I came down with what I thought was the flu, and felt like I was literally going to die. Then two weeks later IT came back. This went on for I'd say another month until I realized IT wasn't the flu. I would throw up so much and so violently, sometimes I thought my stomach was on it's way up. It would start as a queasy feeling, and end up with me being full blown sick and in bed. It would hit so suddenly and at different times of the day, I could never prepare for it. I was hospitalized once for dehydration, and the doctor gave me pills that would supposedly help, but they didn't. I took them every time I started feeling the least bit nauseated, but to no avail. I thought I was doomed for nine months of sheer misery. I went back to my next OB visit with extremely low blood pressure, and the doctor switched my pills to something a little more potent. BINGO!!! YEAH!! Party time! As soon as I feel sick, I pop one of these pills, and I'm cured within ten minutes! I can't imagine living my life without them. With the two months I spent throwing up my guts, I am so grateful for every second I have without sickness.
Whoever created the name for morning sickness must have lived in a cave, because none of my episodes ever happened in the morning, and from most women I've talked to, the episodes laster far longer than just the morning! I think it needs a more fitting name, like "eternal regurgition" or just simply "hell". By all means, if you are suffering from this, and it prevents you from living your life, then consult your OB and get the medication you need to get through this.
