| ptriplett's Full Review: Evenflo Trendsetter Travel System |
My husband and I were looking forward to children years before we starting trying for them. Consequently, most of our baby stuff was picked out in advance ... including this stroller/car seat combo. I liked the idea of being able to take the car seat out of the car, use it as a carrier, and hook it to a stable stroller. Some of the cheaper models out there are not as stable and are hard to use. Two things sold us on the Evenflo, the ease of use and one handed steering. I noticed on other models that you have to release two latches to separate the car seat from the stroller and car seat base (that attaches in the car), with the Evenflo only one is necessary (which leaves your other hand free to lift the seat).
While my son was an infant, I thought this stroller was the best thing in the world ... yes it was a bit large and hard to maneuver through stores and crowds, but the under seat basket was large enough to hold his diaper bag plus other shopping bags! I found out about my only disappointment in this stroller after my son made the transition from infant seat to toddler car seat. The fabric on my stroller doesn't fold over the rear of the seat comfortably (this is when baby is NOT in the car seat, but actually in the seat). I don't know if this has been fixed in later models (mine is almost two years old now), but it looks awfully uncomfortable for my son.
I've since bought an umbrella stroller for the occasional trip to the store where I have to keep him confined. The umbrella stroller is lighter and takes up less space in the trunk, but I can't steer it with one hand, and there's very little storage space so I can't do too much shopping while alone!
I recommend this product to shoppers, but alert them to pay attention to how the fabric lays on the seat in all positions (fully back and fully upright).
I do plan on using it for future children of mine ... but for now it's stored in the garage ... waiting.
