"Mitch-Fest 2000" -Partying doesn't stop at 55
Jul 07 '00
Every year, on the seventh of July, an enormous celebration takes place at my apartment. This first year of the new millenium was no exception. You see, today is indeed my birthday. It is my 55th, but I don't feel a day over 30 really. In fact, the Mitch is willing to wager that he can still party as hard as any 25 year old, and still does on a regular basis.
An extremely lavish and extravagant bash it was, I tell you. My friends and relatives out-do themselves every year in honoring me with such parties, and I do appreciate it. Anyone who is anyone showed up, and even a few unexpected visits as well!!! I certainly didn't expect Bobby from work to show up!!
My brother was, of course, the organizer of this shindig. And let me tell you, he does throw a party like no one's business. Even by 9:30, the soft-drinks were still flowing, and the music was still blaring, at a moderate level. Everything from the atmosphere, to the food was incredible. There were cookies from my sister in law, and some wonderful chips courtesy of a dear chap from work, Apollo.
But it was really the karaoke session that truly made this celebration stand out from all the others. A fitting way to celebrate my 55th birthday. Everyone cheered on, as my friends stumbled through fare like "My Heart Will go on", and "When a Man loves a women". But the real show began, I can say with certainty, when I unleashed my heartfelt renditions of "What a Girl Wants", and the "Thong Song", complete with dancing moves.
One of my best performances, to be honest.
If you're planning a party, try spicing it up with some karaoke. It really adds a whole new dimension to any celebration.
Alas, another year for the Mitch. The last few days have been bittersweet. As I get up there in age, I wonder, just how long will the partying last? Maybe it's time for the Mitch to settle down.
