Hey Mom!! Say cheese!

Written: Apr 20 '00
Pros:Easy to handle, unbreakable
Cons:Budgeting for film and picture processing

My oldest daughter is following in the footsteps on her mommy.
Yes, it is true. I am a self-proclaimed, obsessive-compulsive picture taker. As if that isn't bad enough, I use those pictures to make scrapbooks. Film, pictures, stickers and paper shower my dining room table on a constant basis.

It all began when my then 6 year old hijacked my Canon camera, and snapped some rather lovely photos of her baby sister's feet. I was not aware of this photo shoot until I paid for the film and discovered 5 blurry pictures of the cutest little feet in town.

My 6 year old seemed rather proud of her work. Who am I to argue?
The next month as a special treat, we got her the Fisher Price 35 mm camera. What a great day in the neighborhood it turned out to be.

This camera is the classic of sturdy. As with other Fisher Price items, it is built to last. There are so many wonderful features worth mentioning about this product. I will list them for easy reading.

*It has two handles for easy carrying/focusing.
*There are two eye slots to look through. It is like looking through a pair of binoculars. Heck, I wish adult cameras came with this feature!
*The button pushed to take the photo is large enough for small fingers.
*You are able to easily read the number of photos taken and the amount of film left via the back panel.
*A cord attached to the camera allows for the child to place the product around there neck for easy transport. (note...please monitor your child when they place things around their neck)
*The film can only be accessed by a parent.
*The bright colors used (red/yellow) are eye catching and fun.
*The camera takes polished pictures, barring any mishaps from the photographer (i.e. shaking, running or squirming around while taking the photo)

I highly recommend this product. I have also seen a Fisher Price camera that utilizes 110 film. It is blue and has all of the same features I mentioned above.

There is nothing better than handing this camera to my daughter, loaded with a fresh roll of film and telling her to have fun. She smiles brightly, runs outside and begins her adventure. I must say, I have the nicest collection of photos, ranging from our lovely magnolia tree to the car parked out front to a lone butterfly flittering around our rose bush.

This camera allows me to see the world through my children's perspective..what they find interesting, beautiful, special and fun. That in and of itself makes it worthwhile.
Now, pass me the scrapping supplies..I have another book to make!
