A friend bought us this crib when I was only two months pregnant. I hadn’t done any research or talked to experienced parents. I knew this crib met current safety standards and looked great. I didn’t at the time imagine that there could be more.
My first disappointment with this crib came when I was trying to decorate the nursery. I soon found that the cute mobile I’d chosen wouldn’t fit on the thicker than normal railings. The very woodworking that made it look so cute in the store kept me from using a mobile. But that really isn’t a big deal. I was a little disappointed, but I’ve gotten over it.
Then our beautiful baby boy was born. For the first few months he slept in a bassinette in our room. Finally the time came to move him to his ‘big boy’ crib. It was then that I realized how difficult the front rail mechanism is to release. It is very hard to operate. You have to push up and in on two tabs at the bottom of both sides of the crib simultaneously. To do this you basically have to kneel or squat on the ground. Obviously this can’t be done while carrying a sleeping (or even an awake) baby.
Despite the inconveniences, this is a nice crib. The extra drawer is wonderful, and I hope to be able to use it as a toddler bed when he gets older. All in all I think if I had it to do over again, I’d get a different crib, but this one has served us well and probably will for years to come.
