Protect your child from monstersJan 03 '01 Write an essay on this topic.Protect your children from monsters. Monsters don't exist I hear you all screaming. But to children that can't understand Big Bird, Batman, and The Easter Bunny aren't real, how can they understand Psycho isn't real? I can't tell you how many times worried day care parents, asked me how to solve the nightmare problems of their children. They all would say they didn't allow their children to watch scarry movies, but didn't realize that even with mom and dad in the room these movies can really impact kids. I was a teenager when my 24 year old cousin went to a drive in to see beyond the valley of the dolls. My cousin was actually throwing up after this movie and we both had nightmares for months afterward. Imagine what these show's like Psycho, Jaws, and Nightmare on Elm Street are doing to kids. Most of the children I have known that have joined gangs have done so out of fear, they feel belonging to a group gives them more power to fight the monsters in their lives. Please Parents stop and realize how these shows affect kids, and keep them off of your T.V. whenever the kids are home. Just because the kids are in bed doesn't mean they won't quietly get up to go to the bathroom and quietly stop to see what you are watching. We need to pay attention to those ratings on movies, and also pass laws to ban T.V. commercials for those scarry shows |
