Very Enjoying!

When my husband and I decided to stop using birth control, I didn't know if I could get pregnant or when it would happen. But when we did and I found out, I was estatic!

I really didn't know what to expect. Sure, I've had pregnant friends, but never really talked to them about it. As I started telling people, the same questions started popping up: Have you've had morning sickness? How does it feel? How are you doing? The list goes one.

I think that I was very lucky because I didn't have morning sickness at all. In fact, most of the first 3-4 months, I didn't know I was pregnant because I wasn't sick, I already had a small bladder, causing me to go the bathroom lots anyway and I didn't show at all. When I started showing and had to go buy new clothes that would occupy my growing tummy, then I started feeling pregnant.

During my 5 and 6 months was when I began to feel my little baby kicking me and moving around. It felt like butterflies in a way, but also tickled some. But it felt wonderful! To think that something was growing inside me that was a combination of me and my husband was the greatest feeling ever!

Beginning with my 7th month was when I really felt pregnant. I was tired a lot, hungry and had to go to the bathroom 24-7. I went to bed around 9 or 10 pm which was very unusual for me since I regularly stay up past midnight. My 8th month, I was diagonosed with Gestational Diabetes which only made me watch what I ate more closely. I was lucky enough, not to have to prick myself daily to check my blood sugar.

By my ninth month, I gained some unforeseen energy and was able to finish the baby's room, get all my projects for college done ahead of schedule and work a little extra before having to take off. I waited patiently during Spring Break of 1999 for my daughter to arrive, but she refused to come on her own. I was induced on her due date which was neat.

Labor wasn't easy, but it wasn't hard. My back hurt a lot and it only took about 5 minutes to push her out.

I had an easy pregnancy I think. Some women don't have an easy one. I hope though, that I have helped some newly expectant mother feel a little easier about being pregnant, that the nine months are months of pure joy with a little bit of tiredness. Don't look at it like an awful thing just because you've heard horror stories about women's labor. Those don't matter in the end when you're holding that precious baby in your arms.
