BUILD A BETTER STUDENT

This snack idea can be adjusted to a variety of activities: Build a Better Student, Build a Better Christian, Build a Better Brother - use your own imagination.

The entire concept is very easy - making ice cream sundies! The ball of ice cream represents the student/christian/baseball player/etc. The bowl represents the area - school/church/ball field/ etc. All you need to do is label the chocolate syrup, strawberry topping, whipped cream, etc. with the appropriate words. An example of "Building A Better Student" is below (I used this for snack time when my daughter was in 2nd grade - BIG HIT with the class).

First I explained to the class that we were going to build a better student and the most important thing was for that child to attend school regularly. I held up a plastic bowl and said that this was Bunnell Elementary School. I added a ball of ice cream and told them that this was the student (I preshaped and froze the ice cream balls, so they were all ready to take out of cooler). Next I talked about how we can make this student better - "Let's add some good study habits" - and I poured chocolate syrup on the ice cream - (I had Good Study Habits written and taped to bottle). "Let's make this student better by adding Turn in Homework" - and I poured strawberry syrup on the ice cream. "Pay Attention To Teacher" was caramel syrup, "Try your hardest" was whipped cream, etc - I am sure you have the idea by now. IT WAS GREAT!

When it was time for the kids to make their "students" they called each item to be added by the name taped on the bottle/jar/etc.

I also used this idea for my 4-5 year old Sunday School class - we built Better Christians by adding prayer, attending church, attending Sunday School, etc.

The only limit to this idea is your own imagination!
