better musical chairs
Jan 07 '00
You know how it is when kids play musical chairs. The music stops and all the kids scramble for the chairs. Kids are pushing and shoving to get to a chair so they can still play the game. Then the poor soul who doesn't get a chair is out and they have to sit there and watch as the rest of their playmates are still trying to get one of the remaining chairs.
I never really liked how the game was played. It seemed liked someone always ended up getting hurt or crying. Plus, I just don't like the pushing and shoving.
Here is a much better way to play musical chairs. Put all the chairs in a circle and tape numbers on each chair. Make sure you have the same number of chairs as you do children. The music starts and everyone walks around the chairs. When the music stops everyone sits down. You have a bag with numbers in it to match the numbers on the chairs. You pull out a number and whoever is sitting on that number chair gets a little prize or piece of candy. We did it with candy and the kids played for ages.
No pushing or shoving and no hurt feelings because someone didn't a chair - and everyone gets prizes!
