Absolutely Incredible Kid Day!

Mar 15 '00

Absolutely Incredible Kid Day! March 16th, 2000
What is this you may ask? I didn't know either until my son brought home a notice from school.
It was created by the Camp Fire boys and Girls. It is an annual event, held every third Thursday in March. It is a campaign designated to a special day for adults to convey their appreciation to their children in writing.
I scoffed at the idea, Why set aside a special day, and why put it in writing?
Well I thought about it...And I remembered the day I got married and how my mother wrote me a very touching and loving letter, appreciating me as
a daughter and a woman.
So just imagine a day when every child receives a letter telling them how precious they are and how much they're loved.
When I looked at it this way, I thought what an awesome gift.
A simple, loving letter from the heart can make such a positive and long lasting impact. I know I treasure my wedding day letter from my mother!
Adults today, rarely take time to put their feelings for children into writing. So I thought I would share this with all you parents.
Set aside sometime, form a mental picture of your child and the things that you enjoy or appreciate about them. Tell them what you like about them. Be specific, descriptive. Use humor. Don't lecture.

You can mail it, put it in a lunch box, or place it on a pillow, or read it to a child.
Write a letter now and share your heart with that precious gift you call
your child!
