You have how many children?

I just love seeing the expression on people's faces when I tell them I have five children ranging from the age of two to eighteen. It's a cross between total admiration and horror. After they recover from the initial shock, I am always asked "And how old are you?" To which I reply thirty-one. Now before you do the math, let me explain.
I had my first child when I was nineteen. A beautiful, healthy baby boy whom I named Sean. His father was not exactly pleased with his birth and refused to have anything to do with me or my son. This bothered me at first, but then I realized that it was his loss and not mine. I raised my son for two years on my own, enjoying every minute of it. Then I met my soon to be husband.
I met Scott through his two little boys. We lived in the same neighborhood, and the boys enjoyed playing with my son and watching me draw. They were sweet children ages five, Jeffrey, and seven, Scott Jr.,. I started talking with their father and before I knew it we were a couple. Two years later I gave birth to my second child, another baby boy whom I named Nicholas. Scott and I got married two years later. After being married for one year we talked about Scott adopting my oldest son, Sean. Sean's biological father put up no fight relinquishing his parental rights and the adoption took place within a couple months.
Six years later I gave birth to my last child. Finally a beautiful baby girl! I named her Courtney. Needless to say she is the princess of our family.
Having a large family is not easy. There are neverending bills, unlimited arguments, and my house is constantly messy. But the joys of watching my children grow and play make the trouble seem small. I wouldn't change anything. I love my children with all my heart.
