| hlcooper75's Full Review: Evenflo On My Way Travel System |
When my first daughter was born, these "Travel Systems" were new, and all the rage! I had to have one. I now realize my money (or should I say my mom's money) could have been invested more wisely. Don't get me wrong, I like this product, it's just not what I had hoped.
This comes in the form of an infant carrier, a base, and a stroller. The carrier can be put on the base in the car as a rear facing carseat, or can be used without the base as a carseat. It also fits directly onto the stroller or most shopping carts. This is great for a sleeping infant. You can go from one place to the other without having to unstrap, move, and restrap. Not to mention, it can easily be carried into the house to let them finish their nap. It is rounded on the bottom as well, so that it can be rocked.
The stroller can be used in conjunction with the infant carrier, or by itself for an older child. Both the infant carrier and the stroller have hoods. By the way, when the carrier is used in conjunction with the stroller, the hoods can both be opened forming a complete canopy over the infant to keep out the weather. The stroller has a very large basket that can hold the hugest of diaper bags, and coats, and packages, etc.
I have a couple of complaints... First, I chose the navy and white version, since I did not know the sex of my child. The first time that I washed the cover of the carseat and the stroller, it looked as if it had been left in the sun for months. I was not happy, but I had to wash the baby puke off. Second, the wheels started this god-awful squeaking right away, and no amount of oil has relieved it. Third, once the child is too big for the infant carrier, they still aren't really big enough to sit comforatably in the stroller and see over the bar in front of them. Fourth, the seat on the stroller only has two positions, straight up, or all the way down. The straight up is almost too straight. Fifth, the plastic on the stroller is white, and all dirt shows up quickly and doesn't come off. I have tried everything! Last, I used this stroller with my first daughter right up to the time that my second child was born. The mechanism for folding the stroller back up has to be done with both hands, and it is very far down on the sides. At the end, I almost couldn't reach the buttons because of my huge belly! It wasn't all that easy when I wasn't pregnant either.
Despite all the negative, I have tried many other strollers, and unless you are willing to fork over the big bucks, and I do mean big, this is the best for the money. It's relatively easy to use, versatile, sturdy, and convenient. Given the options at the time, the only choice that I might have made differently was to buy a stroller and a car seat that would last longer. But this one sure is nice.
