Morning? I could deal with that!

Boy do I have a lot of experience with morning sickness!
With the first few pregnancies I had morning sickness (all day sickness really) but it was not nearly as bad as with the last ones. Unfortunately I miscarried those times so there may be some fact in the studies that say sickness happens more often in pregnancies that are not miscarried.
With my daughter I was throwing up daily (multiple times) until about 27 weeks. I felt better for a few weeks but the sickness came back at the end of the pregnancy (This was mostly caused by heartburn which was helped by eating small meals and chewing papaya tablets).
I tried everything and finally started taking medicine at 14wks when I couldn't hold water down anymore and lost several pounds (more pounds than weeks pregnant!). The medicine didn't exactly work. What it did was knock me out so I didn't think about eating or throwing up because I was nearly unconscious. Fortunately I managed to make it to the bathroom while half awake. I soon learned that it was an anti-anxiety pill. Now I was throwing up just about as often but it just didn't freak me out quite as much.
I finally started gaining enough weight the last 2 months and became the incredible expanding woman with a gain of about 35lbs! POOF! I promptly lost most of it (except about 10lbs) in about 2wks after birth so I assume that a lot of it was water retention.
This time I was determined to not be sick but of course that was not to be. I was taking hormones to avoid miscarriage because I had low levels of progesterone. One side effect is nausea and vomiting.
Soon I was retching horribly at least 10 times a day (usually more). My toddler would come knocking on the door every few minutes or try to pull my head up to look into my face. When asked where mama was she would reply "She's throwing up....AGAIN!" with major emphasis on AGAIN.
Lots of well meaning people gave me advice like "Eat Saltines." (I did) or "If you don't think about throwing up you won't do it." (I wish), and "You are making yourself sick." (yes I like to have the above mentioned saltines coming out of my nose).
Some things that helped temporarily:
ginger beer
lemons, sniff them! Sounds wierd but it is a quick fix.
I stopped the hormones but kept getting sick. Soon I lost weight and went down below pre-pregnancy weight again.
I opted to avoid medicine this time. My daughter has some problems that I feel may be caused by one of the medications I was taking while pregnant with her.
The only thing that has really helped is time. With this pregnancy the vomiting every day stopped at 18wks. I won't lie and say that I don't throw up from time to time still but that is a walk in the park compared to the first few months. I can actually eat now, though some things still taste funny and bitter.
As for weight gain, I have gained weight back and am now about 12-14lbs (maybe more this week) above my original weight and the baby is due next month.
