It's Never Too Early ...or Too Late!

There are many ways to show another person you love them, but this topic is about showing affection, so that is what I'll discuss. As my title states, it is never too early nor too late to start showing affection to those you love. My daughter is only 8 months old. Since birth she has been held and kissed and hugged by those who love her so much.
My parents showed affection to my sister and I growing up. However, as we got older, we received less hugs and kisses unless we instigated them. My parents also showed less and less affection to each other. My husband and I make an effort to show affection to each other because touch is so important. We also will make the effort to be affectionate in front of our children so they can see that we love each other and them.
Since the birth of my daughter, my parents have started showing my daughter affection similar to the affection they gave my sister and I when we were little. But, they have also started showing me the same affection again. This has gone a long way to improve our relationship. I hope they continue in this path. It is never too late to start or return to showing affection to those you love.
While you should never give affection just to get it back, the return hug and kiss or cuddle is so wonderful! Especially when it comes from someone you don't really expect it from. My daughter is a born cuddler. And since my daughter was a few months old, she started giving kisses -- the big, opened-mouth kind that gets lots of slobber all over. Recently, though, she started planting kisses right on my mouth and nose. I assume she's seen her father and I kiss and her father and grandmother think nose kisses are the best. My 8 month old is giving back what she's received, showing her love. I can't even describe the feeling I get from this display of affection from her. It's never too early to start showing affection.
