Slicker Brush

Jun 02 '00

I have a Sheltie and couldn't find a brush that was suitable for her long coat. So I tried several pin brushes, only to find out the pins would come out in her coat. So I read a Sheltie care book and read that a Slicker Brush is recommended as one of the grooming utensils. I bought a Slicker Brush for $7.95...the one for medium dogs. I tried it on Lassie as soon as I came home and sure enough, it worked wonders!

The Slicker Brush really pulls up the dead hair smoothly and easily. Lassie would rather play with the brush than be brushed, though! :) The slicker brush gets to the undercoat and gets out all the loose hairs for easy disposal. I have brushed out mounds and mounds of dead hair from Lassie with this wonderful brush. I have used it ever since. It's fast and easy. I like the handle, easy to grip and hold on while brushing the dead hair out.

You have to be careful around the face and eyes, though! The slicker brush is sharp...you wouldn't want to hurt your little one! (or big one!) So I do recommend the slicker brush to those with dogs that have an outer coat and an undercoat. I'm sure it works just as well on short haired breeds, as well. Just take it easy ...don't brush too deep with short hair breeds. The brush is sharp.
