Let's Play BarbieJan 14 '00 Write an essay on this topic.Every little girl dreams of a barbie party at least once. Some ideas: *Barbie cake, of course. You don't need to buy a special pan or use a kit. Just bake a cake in a bowl that is tall enough to go up to Barbie's waist. After you bake it, carefully cut a large enough circle out of the middle to place the Barbie. When I did it I used a new doll, just get an inexpensive one and wrap the body in a plastic bag and rubberband the top. Then ice the cake and use a decorating tip that makes tiny flowers. Place these flowers in lines on her bodice for the top of her dress. Then just have fun decorating her dress. Add another color and do swirls. Buy little edible sprinkles, etc. The idea is that she is in a beautiful ball type gown. *If you have lots of time on your hands and have only a small group of girls coming, then make little cakes from a bowl that is the right size for the Kelly dolls. Give each child one in a cake and let them decorate it. Have cupcakes for them to eat so they can take their masterpiece home. Although this is not a Barbie, cake decorating shops do have the little doll bodice with head on picks that you can stick into a cupcake and decorate. This would be less expensive than getting them each a Kelly doll (unless you find a great sale at some point.) *Invitations. You can be creative here and use one of the many Barbie softwares available. Or do something cute and buy packages of shoes. Send one shoe and tell the girls to bring their barbie wearing the one shoe and try to find the other one. (This idea is also good for a Cinderella party.) *Games. Put the Barbie shoes in a pile and have them find their matching shoe. For prizes have a basket of little accessories to choose from. You can even buy packages of shoes, clothing, etc. and open them and they just choose one. Add to the shoe fun by having all of the children take off one shoe. One person hides them. Divide into teams and see which team has all of their shoes on first. Team mates can help each other with looking and tying. This is a nice ice breaker. * Make a t-shirt for Barbies. You can make them if you sew in a plain color from scraps and then let the children decorate with markers, fabric paints, glitter, etc. This is Barbie's party favor. *When the girls sit down to eat, be creative. Have a place set for their doll beside them. Make tiny napkins, cut little paper plates out of a large paper plate, etc. When they see this, they are so excited. Make sure when you are cutting the cake you put a small piece on each Barbie's plate. * Make your own Pin the Party Hat on Barbie game. Play the same way you would, Pin the Tail on the Donkey. * You can find Barbie plates, napkins, etc. in stores and online. If not just get plain colors and add stickers. *Depending on the age of the children play ring a round a rosie but have each child hold their barbies hand on one side and a friends Barbie's hand on the other side. They think this is really fun and usually fall into a heap laughing. It will make cute pictures. I could go on all day about this as I love this party since I'm a Barbie collector myself but I just want to add, save some time for the children to just play together with their dolls. Their imaginations always think of even better ideas than we adults can. Have fun!!! |
