Baby Retta loves it

Oct 28 '00

As many know my beautiful niece Baby Retta has been really sick and until she was in the hospital I had never seen a vibrating seat in action but when I went to visit her I was amazed.

Upon arrival to Baby Retta's room she was not a very happy camper. When we walked in the nurse was in the process of giving her a bath. Now this little one has tubes coming out of her and had just had her surgery two days before so she was not feeling well at all. It made me nervous because I mean she was really upset and crying and I was afraid her heart rate would get messed up again for the night before they had to give her blood when it dropped real low.

After the nurse was finish bathing Baby Retta she put her in this vibrating bouncy seat thing. I couldn't even tell you the name of it but I can tell you one thing as soon as the nurse turned it on Baby Retta got quiet. Here's this baby that's sore from surgery and doesn't even want anyone to hold her but she sure did like the seat she was placed in.

We were at the hospital for 6 hours and Baby Retta as long as she was in this seat she never even whimpered but as soon as someone would take her out of it she would cry again. I think these seats were God sent to help babies for after seeing what it did for her I wished they would have had them around when my children were babies.

I do understand the concept though on a vibrating seat. How many times have parents had to take their children out for a drive just to get them to fall asleep. Like I said I have no idea what the name of this seat was but I do know it ran on a battery and it obviously must be safe or Children's Hospital wouldn't be using it for the infants they have.

I even talked to my brother about the seat and he said that Baby Retta's seat she had at home was just like that but he hadn't put any batteries in it yet because he didn't know it would actually help any. I am sure by now he's got batteries in it after seeing the way it calmed her down.

I recommend getting one of these seats just because after seeing the way Baby Retta loved it and knowing the hospital approves of them that everyone agrees they are something that babies like and also in many cases of sickness I believe they are something that they need.

For those of you that have been praying for Baby Retta I do thank you. She went to the doctor last week for a check up and so far she is healing the way the doctors want her to. They still say we won't know for another couple of weeks if she needs to have a liver transplant or not. At home she seems to be in good spirits and is laughing and eating great. She still needs prayers though and I do believe those prayers are what has helped her to do as well as she has. Thanks again to those who have been praying
