On Line Resources For Large Families
Apr 12 '00
When you are usually the largest family in any gathering in real life, it is nice to be able to hook up with other parents of large families on line. I have been looking around and found some great sites! And where I feel like a large family in our community, with my five kids, those boards always make me feel like a small family with only five, since there are quite some people out there with eight, nine, ten or even more kids!
ParentsPlace Tons Of Kids Board
http://boards.parentsplace.com/cgi-bin/boards/largefam This is my favorite bulletin board, which I check out frequently and post at with the name karenpl. It is a very supportive environment and there are four weekly chats associated with it, I can recommend attending some (or all) of them. Lots of fun!
ParentSoup Large Families Board
http://boards.parentsoup.com/cgi-bin/boards/pslarge Join other moms and dads of large families in discussing the fun and challenges of parenting a large family. Includes stories and recipes.
You Know You're a Large Family When...
http://pages.ivillage.com/pp/largefamily/youknow.html How do you know you have a large family? Funny article, with responses from the ParentsPlace and Parentsoup Large Families Boards members.
The Official Large Families FAQ
http://www.geocities.com/~plomp/largefam/comebacks.htm. Hearing the same questions over and over again when you go out with your large family can get kind of tiresome. 'Are they all yours?' 'Don't you have a television?' This FAQ will give you some suggestions for comebacks to those Frequently Asked Questions.
Tons of Kids Mailing List
http://www.egroups.com/group/tonsofkids This mailing list is intended for parents of large families (five or more) or aspiring parents of large families. The intent is to support each other and to exchange info and advice.
Quiver-Full Discussion Group
http://www.quiverfull.com/charter.html This is a mailing list for Christians couples who are allowing God to totally control their family planning and family size or are considering His lordship in this area. For the purposes of this forum, the concept of "allowing God to control family planning" would exclude the use of birth control, natural family planning or sterilization.
Love@Home
http://www.loveathome.com/ An internet resource for Above Average Families (more than 2.2 children). With family features, columns and humor.
I hope you enjoy those links as much as I do and hope to meet you on line someday! :-)
