Baby Snuggles!!
Jan 20 '00
We were firm believers that baby's should sleep in their cribs. I was always the one who would laugh at my friends saying "Ha Ha, when your kids are 15 they will still be sleeping with you"
Then came our daughter. She slept in her bassinet by the bed for the first few months and like all mothers I got no sleep because I was constantly watching her to make sure her little chest was moving.
At two months old she got RSV and was hospitalized. When we brought her home she had to have breathing treatments every 3 hours during the night so this meant putting her in our bed. One night is all it took.
She never slept so peacefully and neither did we. There is nothing like the smell of your baby's breath beside you as you sleep. We always intended to get her in her crib one day (the nice expensive one from Grandma and Grandpa)
Well, she did eventually sleep in it but only a few times and never all night. If she was in our bed she would wake up, look at us, and fall back asleep but in her crib was another story.
She is now 27 1/2 months and has her own "big girl" toddler bed (had to get something so maybe she would get some use out of the crib mattress. Once she is asleep we will put her in her bed (it gets a little difficult when you have feet in your ribs all night or a foot up your nose, and yes this does happen somehow).
She will get up in the middle of the night and come to our room and climb in bed with us. Usually she does this without waking us but the other night I was awake although she didn't know this. She came into our room and climbed in bed. She put her hand on my back and patted as she whispered "Night Night MaMa" and she was off to sleep. What if I had missed that moment.
