Adoption: What a great thing

Adoption is one of the greatest things anyone can do! There are so many children every where that so badly need a permanent, supportive place to live. By adopting a child, you are changing there life from what may have ended up miserable, to something beautiful. You are giving the child a chance at a wonderful future, and a very happy life. You are providing them with much more than they would have otherwise. It is truly a wonderful thing.
One point I would like to make though, is that when most people talk about adoption, they think only of babies. There are many older kids who would also love the chance to be adopted. Though they may not be quite as appealing as a cute little baby, I guarantee that you will truly be a hero to them. I know this from personal experience. I have lived in many different foster homes and group homes. I have moved around a lot, because it is hard to fit a somewhat troublesome teen into a new home. I am not an awful, horrible child or anything like that, but simply someone that would like a permanent home, and a place I could count on to be home longer than a couple weeks. It would be a dream come true for me to be adopted by a truly loving family. Anyway, when considering adoption, it may be a good idea to consider adopting and older child. They will benefit greatly from a real family to care for them.
