Making your own lip balms and glosses is a simple way to save money. These recipes are made from natural ingredients, and are inexpensive to make. Compare the prices yourself to see the difference.
Use these instructions for all of the following recipes:
--Melt all ingredients together in the microwave until liquefied.
--Pour into lip balm containers and let cool.
--Wipe out bowls while still warm to remove all of the beeswax. If the beeswax hardens, you will have trouble removing it. You may use grated beeswax or beads.
--You can use the homemade petroleum jelly recipe I have provided, or you can use store-bought. However, don't pay more than .99 cents for a 13 ounce container of store-bought petroleum jelly; wait for a sale.
Homemade Petroleum Jelly
2 ounces Beeswax
1 cup Olive, Castor, or Sweet Almond Oil

Regular Lip Balm
2 tablespoons Olive Oil
1 teaspoon Petroleum Jelly
1 teaspoon Beeswax
------------------------
Aloe Vera Lip Balm
1 teaspoon Aloe Vera Gel
1/2 teaspoon Coconut Oil
1 teaspoon Petroleum Jelly
------------------------
Cocoa Butter Lip Balm
2.5 ounces Cocoa Butter
2.6 ounces Beeswax
1.4 ounces Sweet Almond Oil
------------------------
Herb Lip Balm
2 tablespoons Olive Oil, Infused with herbs
1/2 tablespoon Beeswax
1/2 tablespoon Cocoa Butter
1 vitamin E capsule (Empty capsule into oils)
Fragrance or Essential oils to taste
------------------------
Lip Gloss
2 teaspoons Beeswax
7 teaspoons Castor, Olive, or Sweet Almond Oil
5 drops Essential Oil
------------------------
OTHER SUGGESTIONS
--Add lipstick to the above for color.
--Recycle lipsticks. Empty tubes that have only a tiny bit remaining.
Mix together and melt in microwave.
--Store in tiny containers that you can carry with you - pill bottle, makeup bottles, or spice jars. Apply with lip brush.
