I am hoping most of you know who she is .. but in case, she is a singer and one of her claims to fame is her shaved head. That's going to be me. (No, I have NOT shared this information with my darling husband, but as he loves long hair, I am just sure he will be thrilled!)
What prompted this? My almost 7 week old son. The actual time I am taking to type this was prompted by an opinion I just read by a woman with 3 children, all in different stages of vomiting, feeding and other assorted fun stuff. She was just the kick I needed to refocus on MOTHERHOOD .
WHY?
Because here I am with my 1 child (my first) and I am home for another month on maternity leave before I have to go back to teaching and Colin enters the world of daycare. Two weeks ago my in-laws visited (oh yes, I left a review on this also) and left Colin and I a lovely cold which we are both just getting over. Colin went from sleeping peacefully in his crib to being in the bassinet back in our room, propped up in any position that would allow him, and us, some rest. I just (last night) brought him back to his room and had him sleeping flat on his back. And now yesterday and today he is having more issues with gas and bowel movements than ever. He's been awake since 11 am and will only fall asleep ON ME and even then he keeps waking up screaming after about 20-25 minutes. My husband came home at 4:30 while Colin was sleeping in my lap while I was trying to read email, and if I could have safely tossed the baby into his arms, I probably would have.
I have not had a bite to eat all day except 4 Chips Ahoy, a shower in 2 days, and I am wearing old stretched out pink shorts and a maternity top (yes, I thankfully lost what little baby weight I had, but I can't locate my "regular" clothes). And I am obsessing about my hair. My husband promised me a perm once the baby was born, but here we are without the funds since I don't get paid for my leave. I even saved up $90 worth of Epinions money, but by the time I cashed it in and the check arrived we needed it for "baby stuff". I am wearing my eternal ponytail with the one semi-clean, semi-white scrunchie I can find to put it up with. To stop the focusing on the baby's crying today I instead obsessed about my hair, and lack of style. I have decided that it would take too much time and effort to keep up with the perm anyway, so why don't I call the hairdresser and shave it? Better yet, save the $20 and just use my husband's electric beard trimmer. Yep, these are my thought patterns today. Welcome to my "Mommy Mind".
John and the baby went upstairs (I am hiding out in the finished basement) after I filled him in on today's antics, and I settled down to read a few Epinions before going on to do some of my point earning sites. The Motherhood post was just what I needed to get out of my own world and to realize that even today other women across the world are having my kind of day, and then some.
