THEY TOOK AWAY HER CHILD TODAY (an original poem)Jul 20 '00 Write an essay on this topic.THEY TOOK AWAY HER CHILD TODAY They took away her child today And didn't have a clue Why she was throwing such a fit When this was "right" to do. "Don't be so childish," she was told, In patronizing voice. "This was decided by the judge-- You do not have a choice." There always had been prejudice, Due to that label: "slow," And, on that January day, There had been ice and snow. She noticed they were low on food And braved the winter storm To buy it--left her sleeping child At home, all safe and warm. This just confirmed, to made-up minds, That she was less-than-smart. Today, they took away a child And broke a mother's heart.
