I Cried The Baby Blues Today.....

Today I decided to go up to the attic and grab that box of baby boy clothes to wash and give away to a friend with a precious little boy. As I opened the box and starting pulling out these adorable outfits I started to sob. I don't know if it was sadness because we are not having anymore children or happiness because of all the wonderful memories. I'm sure it was a little of both.
As I sat on my knees crying in front of the washing machine I would hold up each and every outfit and ponder on the memories of when my little babies that wore these. They seemed to begin to take on a life of their own. Oh look, this one was when he rolled over for the first time. Look at that spit up on that one that he did at the movies and got all over me too. As I picked another out of the box it started doing the baby boogie dance across the livingroom. I smelled each and every outfit hoping to smell that baby smell, but the musty attic odor had taken them over.
Sometimes as moms we get caught up in the stress of sleepless nights and teething babies. We want them to walk right now and talk right now . We want them to be potty trained as soon as they can. We work hard to get them all the new fangled baby items to make our lives easier and actually have less time with them because we have worked more than we have enjoyed. We forget in the midst of it all to sit back and enjoy and love every little detail of their babyhood, like sitting in the dark with baby in arms rocking as they sleep watching their little round faces as the moon shines in the window casting shadows on God's precious creation, or hearing the laughter as they dump a bowl of spaghetti on their heads. Oh and not to forget the one on one time while they bath in the sink.
Life is so short as it is and their little baby lives are even shorter so we need to enjoy, because it only last but a moment and it's gone. It won't be long and my babies will be graduating from high school and college to go into this great big world to find their nitch and raise a family of their own. They won't have much time for me because they will be running in the rat race to keep up with the Jones and raising their babies in delight.
Sitting there beside my washing machine crying for my baby days, doing all this pondering , I will keep in mind and do know in time they will come back to me then I can enjoy my babies again, my GRAND BABIES.
So when those baby blues hit you just remember those babies will be coming back into you lives once again, only this time there will be all the time in the world to slow down and focus on them and not the race....
