| Bacchus's Full Review: Apples to Apples |
Apples to Apples, is one of those games that I was sure I wouldn't like... until I played it. What I found, was a game that a wide variety of people enjoyed playing. What's more, it's a game where the fun is in the playing, not so much in the winning.
Players have 7 Noun cards in their hands, including proper names. Players take turns being the judge. The judge draws and plays an adjective card, and the remaining players take a play a noun card from their hand that they think best matches that adjective card. Here is where the fun comes in, as some of the matches are either spot on, or way off base. But, and there is a big but here, the judge is the one that makes the decision on which noun is the best match.
I've played with gamers and non-gamers alike, and they all love the game. My only distraction to the game, is that I have seen most, if not all, of the Adjective and Noun cards, even with the expansion set, and some combinations are starting to repeat themselves. Now I admit I've played well over a dozen games with from 5 to 8 players, so the cards have been recycled many times.
