| DnDn4kidz's Full Review: Graco Duo Rider |
I purchased the Graco Duo Rider stroller for several reasons. First and foremost, I got it for next to free<grin>. BabyStyle.com has some awesome deals. I was able to use a $50 off $100 order offer at their site, combined with a $20 gift certificate that they sent out, and free shipping. I ended up paying $49 for a $120 stroller.
The second reason I got the Graco Duo Rider is because for the past year *plus*, I have been carrying my now 18 month old in a backpack carrier while pushing my 3 year old in a single stroller. This has been fine, until recently. I've noticed I have a nightly back aches~could this be caused from carrying close to 30lbs on my back daily??
My older two children used double strollers when they were the ages of my younger two, but we always had the front/back strollers. These strollers were easy to fit through door ways, yes, but that was all that was easy about them! We have owned several front/back strollers over the years, and have not been happy with one of them. Every one has been heavy beyond belief, does not fold down well, and the front/back strollers get difficult to turn when the child in front starts to weigh above 20lbs. The child in back always seems 'squished', and the child in front always ended up with a few less strands of hair on their head after a ride.
We never considered a side by side double stroller, because we always heard about how hard they are to fit through doors. Well, for $49, I couldn't pass this one up! The first thing my husband and I did when our new stroller arrived, was take the kids to the mall to 'door' test it! it was a close fit, but it went through every door!
The Graco Duo Rider is very lightweight and folds up to approximately 34x31x12 inches, it folds wide, but fairly flat. The seats are very padded, and the padding is all removable and machine washable(definately a PLUS)! The padding has to be 'tucked down' to keep it in place, as it's only held on by a velcro strip.
The seats offer individual fully recline position, or fully upright. This is nice when my 18 month and 3 year olds start fussing with each other, I just fully recline my 3 year olds seat, and he can't reach my 18 month old :) He gets the picture~haha.
My husband wasn't thrilled about the individual padded guardrail feature, until we realized the guardrails don't have to be attached. We preferred to leave the guardrails off, because our children who use this stroller are old enough to get in and out of the stroller themselves. The seat straps hold the children in well enough alone. The seat straps are wide 3-point straps, which is nice, because they don't 'cut into' the babies tummies.
A couple of added advantages to this stroller are the extra large canopy, which for Alaska is acting as a great 'snow keeper-outter'. In the lower 48, I'm sure it would make a good sun visor :) There is also a huge double basket under this stroller. I literally can put all of my groceries in this basket if I am just doing 'light' shopping, eliminating the need for a shopping basket.
I would definately recommend this stroller! It is good for infants, or toddlers. As of yet, it's the only double stroller I have been happy with..
