| gym-378's Full Review: Evenflo Trendsetter Advantage Travel System |
I certainly hope my Epinion title is self-explanatory. I have a ten-month old baby which means that I have been dealing with this pain in the *** stroller for wayyyyy too long. Here's how it has gone with this thing.
First of all, my wife and I were given the Trendsetter Advantage as a gift from my parents. They wanted us to have the best when it came to a stroller, so they left it up to us to "test drive" bunches of strollers and pick out the one we thought would serve us best. We spent quite a bit of time folding and unfolding, rolling, turning, and basically trying every feature that came with each stroller. Essentially, we were blinded by the fact that the Trendsetter has an "ergonomic" handle that is easier to carry and presumed portability of the baby seat from stroller to carseat. We liked the storage compartments and drinkholders too.
Unfortunately, those features don't make up for the shoddy design of this stroller. You see, when we first brought the stroller home, we noticed a warning telling us to be sure the stroller seat was in the lowest position before folding the stroller. So we dropped the seat down to the lowest position and folded away. Turns out that simply dropping the seat to the lowest position doesn't prevent the damage from being caused. You have to undo the fabric from the frame, and then drop the seat to the lowest position...nothing common sense would dictate.
As a result, we bent one of the bars and the stroller didn't fold right. I immediately returned the stroller assuming this was a problem with my specific stroller. We were given a replacement with no problem. Unfortunately, this is a design problem. We still liked the features so we decided to keep the stroller. Later the stroller was, once again, ruined when my parents folded it not knowing about the problem.
Another problem with the stroller is its weight. It is HUGE. Did I say HUGE? Yes HUGE! I drive a Chevy Blazer and it takes up half the rear storage compartment. It's also VERY heavy. My wife has a very difficult time getting it out of the closet where we store it and unfolding it. Which leads me to the next problem. Folding it up requires that you have the wingspan of a small Condor. To fold it, you have to press two buttons simultaneously on both sides of the stroller. Since the stroller is so wide, it takes a lot of effort.
While I do have to say that the stroller was great for places like the mall since you can simply transfer the baby seat from your car to the stroller, that's about the only place that it's worth it.
I would highly recommend that you pass on the Trendsetter and look for a lighter, easier to use stroller that provides you with the features you want.
