A lil less skin???

Jun 14 '00

My son who was born in Hawaii was circumsized, my husband and I thought it over well before he was born to make sure that this would be something that we think he might want. Being that my husband wasn't I asked him what did he really feel about the whole thing and he basically was for it and would have been pleased if his own mother would have decided on the skillful surgery, but being afraid and not understanding she declined.

The hospital doesn't force this way of thinking on you and they don't promote it as well (Hawaii is very traditional in alot of way as far as dealing with children and child birth)they do tell you all of the pros and cons. They even told us that it may not be perfect and enough skin might not be removed etc..However we decided to do it, my baby was circumsized the day after his birth and I must admit I felt a sadness when they rolled him off down the hall and when he returned with tears in his eyes I knew it was over.

Taking proper care of the penis was my main concern and thought of the reasons why we decided to have it done, for health reasons. His penis was red for a week or so and they had a plastic dome like thing on it to prevent it from rubbing the diaper and once that fell off it was pretty much healed.

I honestly believe when he get older that he will be pleased with our choice and won't fault us if he is not.
