Make it a theme party for your kids

My sister has a theme party for my nephew every year. He just had his eighth birthday this last weekend. This years theme was construction.

She really goes all out with these parties. She made a cake in the shape of a dump truck. She made jello in the shape of a hard hat. She had all yellow balloons and streamers. All his friends that came to his party were wearing hard hats and all the games they played had to do with construction. All his presents were wrapped in paper with construction trucks. Every present she gave him was a construction truck or game. She even had gotten a piniata shaped like a dump truck and filled with little plastic construction trucks.

I remember when she first started this theme idea. I believe he was only 2 and everything was done up in Mickey Mouse. He decides now what he would like his theme to be and has already decided on next year. He wants to have a K-nex theme party. I can only imagine what she will come up with for that party. Last year it was trains and the year before that he had race cars.

My other sister has two kids a boy and a girl. She started doing the theme party now also. Her son turned 5 this year and he had a frog and bug theme party. She had bugs and frogs all over the place. She made green punch with ice cubes in the shape of frogs. She made a cake in the shape of a lizard. My niece's birthday is coming up next and she turns three. My sister has already said she will have a Barbie theme party for her this year. My niece LOVES Barbie and dressing up like Barbie.

I really think these theme parties are a great idea. They seem to really enjoy picking out their own theme. My sisters really come up with some great ideas also.
