Trained 4 girls in a snap, now here comes trouble.. A son is born... HELPPPPPP
Dec 29 '00
Well 14 years ago when my daughter was born, I heard all those terrible stories about how hard it was to potty train girls. Well, in my book they are the easiest. With my first child all I had to do was buy a potty chair that she was comfortable with, and this is true, the first day I bought it was the last day she used diapers. She took to the potty instantly. I didn't have to bribe her or anything, and to top that she was only 11 months old.
So I figured after my wonderful experience the first time that it was going to be bad the next time. But I was wrong. The next three were as easy as the first one. I thought boy what did I do that the other parents didn't do to have such an easy time with potty training.
Well first off I think it is because I let them decide when they were ready. I let them pick out their potty chair, and I let them put it wherever they wanted to. And honestly the placing of the chair is a great idea. Who says it has to go in the bathroom. As soon as the learn how to use the chair, it gets put away and they start to use the big potty. But this was the easy part.
Now my son comes. HA. Forget it. After all my success with my girls, now comes the pay back for them being so easy. I knew it, I knew it would happen with one child. And I am still trying to get him to use it. You gotta understand my son, he is a red-headed little devil. And him being smarter than most does not help a bit. I swear he is going to grow up an be a psychologist, he analyzes everything he does. And if I tell him it is time to go on the potty, he tells me, and I quote him " But Mommy, I have my diaper on, and I went in it already". And this is how he talks to me. He tells me that he is too small for the potty and goes on and on about using it.
Now I got the peeing part down pat, but the rest, forget it. He refuses to even do anything other than pee in it. And as for the peeing part, well girls pee sometimes, boys well I have learned that they have a never ending source of urine. And no matter how much you control their liquid intake, it does not matter. I have to ask my son every 15 minutes. And the doctor says this is natural, all I have to say is that I am glad I am a woman. :}
Well I hope some of this helps, maybe someone can give me a few suggestions on potty training a boy, cause honestly I am stuck...
PEACE.
