| Old_Reliable's Full Review: Evenflo Trendsetter Travel System |
My wife and I bought this stroller because we liked the idea of having a car seat that could click into the stroller, thus allowing you to move the baby from stroller to car, and back, without waking her up. Also, a friend at work recommended it to me as a stroller that handled well.
Now, I see other strengths: this stroller is rugged and lasts well.
And, with the top drink-holder rack and the bottom bin, this stroller truly is a Mobile Command Center. Plenty of room for the diaper bag AND my work backpack. I have even used the space to take a big pile of groceries home when I shop with the baby. Also, we have several times packed entire picnics into the stroller. Bottom line: you can load this baby up, and if there is one thing you are about to learn as a new parent, it is that you can never have enough space for stuff, stuff, STUFF!
I am really happy we bought it.
Many of Baby's naps were preserved by the fact that the car seat clicks right into the stroller. Also, we appreciated the plastic base that you can leave in your car, making it very simple to put the infant back into the car without needing to touch the seat belt at all.
As to the handling, my friend was absolutely right: it turns on a dime. In fact, if I and the baby are alone in the elevators on the subway I take to get the baby to day care, I can entertain her with a game of "Whirly-Girly" where I twirl her around in the stroller using one arm.
As to the rugged part, check this out: I have used the stroller for at least half a mile every workday since the baby started day care, and this over city streets with curbs, potholes, etc. I have put a good several hundred miles of tough wear on this stroller, with really no significant damage, other than cosmetic scrapes, etc.
The folding/unfolding mechanism is very easy to use.
WEAKNESSES? A few. The wheel base is low, so you are not going to use this stroller off road (or, at least, off lawn). Also, the bar across the baby front is fixed, which is fine when she is teeny, but when she hits 30+ inches, it starts to require a little maneuvering to get her legs under that bar as you put her in and out. It can be done fine, but it does take a little longer. Also, the stroller, big and rugged as it is, is a little heavy and bulky. While a big and relatively strong person can carry the folded stroller up a set of stairs with one arm while carrying Junior in the other, a person of slight build will most likely have to make two trips. And, of course, it takes up quite a bit of room in the trunk.
