| dawndev's Full Review: Evenflo On My Way Travel System |
This evenflo on my way stroller was a gift to me, purchased when my son was just a couple of months old. I didn't do alot of looking around, as the purchaser recommended this one. If I had to do it over, I might choose a different stroller system due to some constant wheel problems I've had with this one.
I'm an avid walker, and put many miles on the stroller in a given week. I don't think this stroller was designed with that in mind. In the first year, the wheels either fell apart, got very noisy and rattly, or just seized up many many times. Thankfully Evenflo has a WONDERFUL customer service center, and did anything they could to correct my problems.
The good things about this stroller are many however... When my son was a newborn, the carseat that latched in the stroller was wonderful, cause he was much more comfortable tucked in the cosy carseat, than lost in the roomy stroller. It also made it much easier when getting on a bus, as you need 2 hands to fold the stroller up. Baby sits in the carseat, and you can fold the stroller. The under basket is large, and can hold quite a bit of stuff, which is a good thing to have when packing diaper bags, change of clothes, and all the other good things that come along with heading outdoors with baby in tow.
Once my son outgrew the carseat, and rode in the stroller itself, my few complaints were with the reclining mechanism. There are only 2 positions, upright or on a slant. I would have liked to see it recline a bit further. I also don't care too much for the safety belt. I think that could be improved on. I've seen much better belts in other strollers. Its easy to do up, and undo, but I find when my son falls asleep during a walk, and starts to sink down a bit, the the straps get buried under his legs. They also don't hold him in all that tight if he decides to attempt an escape, he has come close to getting out more than once.
Recently the front wheels fell of the stroller on me while walking far from home, and I could no longer roll it at all. I had to fold it up and carry it, and lead a unwilling 20 month old by the hand. I got home and got on the phone to evenflo right away, and new wheels were promised to me. When it started to take too long, I called again, telling them I NEEDED my stroller as it is our only means of getting around, and they quickly shipped me a brand new stroller, in exchange for my damaged one. I'm hoping this one will hold out til my son doesn't need to be in it anymore.
In general, I am mostly happy with the system, but as I said, I don't think it was designed for the amount of walking that we do with it. For short walks through the mall, or to the stores, it might be fine, but not for miles and miles every day.
I would recommend this system to my friends who have cars, and don't walk as much as me. The carseat is the best feature, the trouble some wheels are the worst.
