Extended family

Aug 03 '00

I had two children here in Utah that's called a start. Personally I don't understand how parents can afford to have more than two kids. We struggled to support two. Being surrounded by big families I must say I think we all need all the family we can get, no matter what our age. Fortunately along with my two brothers I had many cousins, and assorted Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents.
Today the trend seems to be for children to move to another state as soon as the child is of age. What a shame. Their little ones will never know the joy of families. It is so important for families to be together, for holiday's and vacations but to share the good moments and bad.
What to kids do today when an emergency arises and Grandma is 2000 miles away and can't rush over to take care of the kids while their mom is visiting their dad who is in the hospital for a hernia operation?
If you are about to become a new parent or you are considering moving far from home, I beg you to stop and reconsider.
In todays world more than ever we need extended families, that are there for each other no matter what.
