When it HITS so Close to home.....

Oct 09 '00

Death, it takes someone EVERYDAY, somewhere! We always
hope that it will pass us by, and spare the ones we love and
know.We are told not to question God, that there is a purpose
for all of this pain. But one still wonders.....Why?

In our small town, death has hit us HARD,TWICE in this last
week. Last weekend,a 4th grade little boy (that my daughter
went to school with) was killed in a car accident. The Father
(that only had his 3 children every other weekend) was
driving this vehicle, while under the influence of alcohol.
The 3 children, nor the Father were wearing seatbelts! When the
Father swerved across the yellow line and then lost control,
he flipped the car and the oldest boy (9), was partially
ejected through the sunroof.

How will his Mother go on? As a Mother of 3, I have no idea.
How will they tell his little sister that her big brother will
never come home again? The many years that they will have to go
on without him. Never again will he play baseball and wrestle
his younger brother. This tears me apart, hearing my 9 year old
daughter say, Mom, how could he be dead....I just seen him in the
bus line on Friday! The class all sent homemade cards with
their true 9 and 10 year old feelings enclosed. My daughter's
had a hand drawn picture of Heaven on the front. A WELCOME TO
HEAVEN banner hung across the gates, as a Welcoming Angel was
holding a sign that said " Welcome to Heaven, Danny Glass...Your
now in a Better Place!!! I was in tears. I hugged my daughter
tight and told her that she made a beautiful card and How much
she meant to me!

Another loss was felt on Saturday of this week. A 16 year old
teenage boy was struck by a car, while he, his brother and a
friend were pushing a four wheeler alongside the road. The
woman driving didn't see them until the last minute, and it was
too late! The brother was uninjured. The friend has a broken leg.
The 16 year old had severe head injury and only lived a bit
over an hour after getting to the hospital.
How I feel for the Parents and Loved ones! The grief they must
endure, astounds me!
My two older daughters went to school with this young man. I'm
sure when they get on the bus in the morning, they will be
asked by more than one person, "Hey, did you hear about ---?
They will have to work through their grief together, by talking
about him and coming to terms with the fact that it could have
as easily been one of them!

My heart goes out to all the Parents and Loved ones out
there that has lost a child or someone special. When this
happens so close to home, it makes you scared to let your
kids out of the house! But, I know I can't ALWAYS be there,
but Oh how I wish I could.

I feel that my life would have no meaning without my 3
beautiful daughters. I am a MOTHER, First and Foremost!
So GOD, IF I ASK WHY, Please don't be mad, for I love my
children and THANK YOU daily for blessing me with them.
They are surely a gift that I treasure. They are my
Everything!

Thanks for reading.....AND TELL THE ONES YOU LOVE, HOW
MUCH YOU LOVE THEM TODAY......FOR TOMORROW MAY BE TOO
LATE!
