| jma924's Full Review: Evenflo On My Way Travel System |
While I was still pregnant with my daughter in 1997, my parents bought me the Evenflo On My Way 4 in 1 stroller/carseat.At the time, it was one of the more deluxe stroller systems on the market and I loved the idea of its convenience and multiple uses.
My daughter was born in late September of that year and I loved being able to attach the infant carseat to the stroller without having to wake her.
However, during our first month of use, we found the stroller nearly impossible to maneuver, particularly on slick surfaces (such as the waxed floors in shopping malls). We returned to Sears, where my parents had bought the stroller initially, and they gave us a newer model since they didn't have any replacement wheels. This ended up working in our favor, as that first model was recalled due to problems with the handle on the baby carrier. The second stroller was a little easier to maneuver, but after about 2 months, while walking thru a mall, one of the wheels just came flying off, with my daughter in the stroller. Thankfully, she nor the person on the lower level of the mall who got beaned in the head by our flying stroller wheel was hurt. We again returned it to Sears and got a newer model of the same stroller--our third.
We haven't had any problems with this latest model, although I must admit that now that our daughter is 2 1/2, this larger stroller doesn't see much usage. We usually use our umbrella stroller or baby jogger (see my epinions on those!) In fact, just last weekend, we stored the Evenflo On My Way System in our storage unit; maybe we'll give it another try "next time around!"
If I had to list some "pluses" about this stroller, they would have to include:
-the storage basket underneath is of a decent size, which is really convenient when you're shopping or have to bring a diaper bag.
-overhead canopy protects your child from sun exposure or inclement weather.
-includes infant carseat--a must-have for a new parent!
Overall, I don't think this is the best stroller on the market, and for the price, I definitely think you can get something of better quality. I don't care for the style of the seatbelt-its okay when the seat is in the upright position, but when I lay the seat back, my daughter is able to wiggle out of the seatbelt easily. Also, the wheels still aren't the greatest for maneuvering, although they are much-improved since that first model I owned two years ago. The front wheels tend to try to go in opposite directions from each other, making it very hard to turn.
