I have stayed at the Boulders twice because my husband adores their golf courses. Since I don't golf, I won't contradict his high praise for the courses and clubhouse, but I can comment on the hotel and spa. The hotel itself is a huge ...
Pros: Nice weather (in the winter), golf, tennis, food, environment Cons: far from pheonix, expensive
Visiting the Boulders last year for thanksgiving was one of the most fun experiances of my life. The Boulders is a thouroghly enjoyable resort with almost all the advantages you could ask from a resort outside Pheonix, Arizona. The golf was one of...
Pros: The best service, breathtaking property, best all around hotel experience Cons: expensive
I was at the Boulder during early december for a two day business trip and was absolutely blown away. Little known fact, this hotel is owned by Wyndham, but here they have done an unbelievable job. From the time you walk in, they are ready for you and...
Pros: Desert surroundings, far from the central Phoenix area (if you're seeking a remote area) Cons: Staff. Pools. Accommodations. Price (unreasonably expensive with a $29.00 per night resort fee).
We recently stayed at this resort and were treated terribly. We found the staff to be condescending and rude, and the lodgings fell far short of meeting our expectations. Accordingly, we left the property after just one night (although we had originally intended to stay longer).
Our "casita" accommodations were not clean, upon our arrival, and we were shocked at the lackluster pools/recreational activities available. In fact, we were told that if we wanted to swim, we should "stake a claim at the crack of dawn" (by putting personal belongings on chairs by the pool) or else face the consequences.
This resort was a devastating disappointment, from top to bottom, and we strongly recommend that you seek lodgings in a different location in the Carefree/Scottsdale/Phoenix area.
